Dropdown menus are a helpful way to organize your navigation bar, allowing you to group related pages under a single menu item. This keeps your site easy to explore and helps patients quickly find what they’re looking for without being overwhelmed by too many links.

Before you start

Make sure you are logged into your site and have admin access, as you'll need it to create pages and modify menu options.

How to Create a Dropdown Menu

These steps will walk you through creating a dropdown menu in your main navigation.

  1. You'll want to have created the pages you want to include in your dropdown. To create a new page, take a look at our guide on How to Create a New Page.
  2. To get started, click Admin > Menus in the top right corner.
  3. Select Main from Site Menus
  4. Hover over the page you wish to add a submenu to.
  5. Click the circle with the three dots on the right-hand side and then click Add Link
  6. In the Label box, you'll be adding the public-facing name of the item you wish to add to your dropdown menu.
  7. Next, click the dropdown next to Link to, click Pages, and select the page you want to link to the dropdown menu.
  8. Hit the Save Link button to save your progress.
  9. If your dropdown menu contains more than one page, you can rearrange the order by clicking the Re-order button next to the parent page. Then use the reorder button to drag the pages into the correct order. When you're happy with those changes, click the Done Re-ordering button.

You're all set to go! Now, when a client looks at your navigation menu, they'll see the new dropdown menu you've just added. To create more dropdown menu items on other navigation menu items, simply repeat the process.

Note

The maximum number of items you can include in a dropdown menu is 10. If you have anything more than that, it can reduce usability and accessibility, especially on mobile devices.
