Text Formatting Explained
Our text editor includes a set of formatting tools that help you style your content. Below is a breakdown of what each icon does, so you can format your text with confidence.
Bold, Italic, and Underline
Similar to using a word processor, you can bold, italicize, or underline your text. Bold is best used to emphasize important words or headings. Italics are helpful for quotes or highlighting subtle emphasis. Underline is mostly for emphasis or links.
Text Alignment
Align your text based on how you want it displayed. Left-aligned is the default and easiest to read. Center-aligned is good for titles or short blurbs. Right-aligned is rarely used.
Text Formatting
Text formatting can add even more hierarchy to your text. You can choose from Paragraph (regular text), Heading (large title), and Subheading (medium title). Heading and subheading styles may look slightly different depending on your website’s theme and color settings.
Paste as Text
If the text that you've copied from another source isn’t displaying correctly on your site, the text may contain hidden formatting. To remove that hidden formatting, click the Paste as text button, and paste your content. Now that your text is pasted without formatting, you reformat it using the text editor.
Block Quote
Another option to make text stand out on a page, you can select the "Block Quote" option as an alternative to bold/italicize/underline.
Bulleted List and Numbered List
Another option to organize your text would be to create a numbered list or a bulleted list. Bulleted lists are great for breaking down features or items. A numbered list helps organize text when order or sequence matters.
Indent and Outdent
Indents and outdents can help make text stand out. To move a line of text inward from the left margin, click the Indent button. To return the text back to the outer margin, click the Outdent button.
Undo and Redo
Mistakes can happen. To remove your last change, click the Undo button (the backward arrow). If you change your mind, click the Redo button (the forward arrow) to restore the text.
Insert/Edit Link and Remove Link
To add a link to your text, click the Insert/Edit Link button. To remove an existing link, click the Remove Link button. Be aware that the appearance of links may vary depending on your website’s theme and color settings.
Upload Image and Insert/edit Video
Adding images and videos is a great way to enhance your text content. Click the Upload Image button to add an image, choosing a file from your computer. Click the Insert/edit video button to add a video, and paste a link from a video hosting platform such as YouTube or Vimeo.
Source Code
To add a form, calendar, or other embedded code to your content block, click the Source Code button and paste your code.
