Adding links to external websites, like partner pages, booking platforms, or resources, helps your patients navigate to relevant information beyond your site. This guide walks you through three simple ways to add links: through your menu, through buttons in blocks, and within your text.
How to Add an External Link to Your Main Menu
You can add a clickable link in your main/navigation menu that points to an external site.
- In the top right corner of your screen, click Admin, then click Menus in the dropdown menu.
- Under Site Menus, click Main.Â
- Click the Add Link button.
- Under Label, type the title of the page you want to appear in your menu.
- Under Link To, paste an external URL (including âhttps://â).Â
- Click Save Link to apply your changes.
- Next, you'll want to click and drag the six-dot grid icon
to the left of the new menu item to reorder where it's listed in your menu.Â
- Move it to the desired position in the list, and its position will be saved.
- Refresh your webpage to see what the new tab looks like in the menu.Â
How to Link Using a Button in a Block
You can direct visitors from any block to an external site using a customizable button.
- Navigate to the page where you wish to add the link.
- Hover over the block you wish to add a link to and click the pencil icon
. As a note, not all block types allow buttons to be added.
- Scroll until you reach Button one text and Button two text.Â
- Enter the button text into either Button one or Button two (e.g., Book Now, Learn More, etc).
- Set the link destination as either a page on your site by selecting it in the drop-down or paste the external URL starting with âhttps://â.
- Choose whether the link opens in the same tab or a new tab. Â
- Click the Update Block button to save your changes.
How to Insert a Link Within Text
Embed clickable links directly into text for emphasis and SEO backlinks.Â
- Navigate to the page where you wish to add the link.
- Hover over the block you wish to add a link to and click the pencil icon
- Scroll until you reach the Body text area.
- Highlight the text you want to turn into a link.
- Use the text editorâs Insert/Edit Link tool.
- Paste the full external URL starting with âhttps://â.
- You can also select if you'd like the link to open into a new window or not by using the Target drop-down.Â
- Click OK to add the link.
- Click the Update Block Element button to save your changes.Â
Nicely done! Youâve now learned three ways to add external linksâto your menu, buttons, and textâgiving your visitors seamless access to resources beyond your site.
